Hey there, I’m Johann Forfang. A Norwegian Ski Jumper. I’m trying to make a life off of traveling around competing in the World Cup.
Only one month after my birth, my older brother Daniel moved from Tromsø to Trondheim to become a professional ski jumper, only fifteen years old. I think I almost felt like I was born into the ski jumping because of him. At a really early stage I found it all natural to think that I should be a ski jumper. I wanted to be in the national team like my brother when growing up. You can say that ski jumping always has been my way of life.
I was growing up north in Norway where the facilities to become a professional don’t exist. So the support from my parents was crucial, because we needed to travel far and a lot. Already early in my childhood this situation made the thought of moving to Trondheim all natural to me. When I was barely sixteen I moved from my parents to a small dorm room in Trondheim.
Since then I have won Olympic Gold and Silver, seven World Championships medals and three World Cup victories and a personal best of 245,5 meters. And there’s hopefully a lot more to come!
